Putt you up? Golfers in race to book £15K hotel room
The race to book one of the UK’s most expensive hotel rooms ahead of this year’s British Open at Royal Birkdale has teed off.
Managers at the new Vincent Hotel, in nearby Southport, have been inundated with enquiries for the luxurious penthouse, which has a £15,000 price tag during the tournament.
Bookings are now being taken for the decadent suite which boasts an outdoor jacuzzi, a giant spa bath with built-in flat screen TV, private steam room and free 5000 title MP3 collection.
Paul Adams, owner of the Vincent hotel, which is due to open in May, said: "The price tag of the penthouse reflects the quality of accommodation. The most expensive hotel room in the world, the Bridge Suite at the Atlantis hotel in the Bahamas, is currently available at $25,000 per night, which is unbelievable. Our rate is a bargain in comparison and will match the level of service.
“We’ve already been inundated with enquiries about the penthouse in the run up the opening of the hotel and the golf Open.
“We have had lots of enquiries from local and American business delegates requesting first class accommodation for their trip to the Open in July. It is only a matter of time before the penthouse is snapped up."
With five months to go until the golf Open in Birkdale gets into full swing, all the 60 rooms at the £13million hotel, which has a prospective 5 star status, have been booked up. Global management consultancy Oliver Wyman has booked 30 rooms, 10 rooms have been reserved by the R&A with rest being taken by wealthy individuals. Only the six night penthouse package remains.
